Preventing trips at home: my checklist for safer living spaces in Northeast Ohio 🏡

Falls are a common risk for seniors, especially with rugs, cords, and clutter scattered through walkways. Here’s how I recommend creating safer pathways and everyday peace of mind:

– Secure area rugs with non-slip pads or double-sided tape to keep corners flat.

– Bundle and tuck electrical cords along the wall, away from foot traffic.

– Clear walking paths in hallways and rooms so nothing catches your toes or walker.

– Place brighter lights in dark corners and entryways for better visibility at night.

– Arrange furniture to create wide, clear walkways, especially near bathroom or kitchen doors.

– Add a sturdy grab bar near steps or where rugs can’t be moved for extra balance support.

– Keep shoes, pet toys, or bags off main routes to stop sudden stumbling.

What’s the trickiest spot to keep clear in your home? Share your experience, or save this list for your next safety check!
